Some wedding days are meant to be celebrated with a hundred of your favorite people. Others are meant to be spent hiking through the mountains, exchanging vows somewhere secluded, and ending the evening around a dinner table with the people who matter most.
For Becca and Patrick, their summer Loveland Pass hiking elopement was exactly that. A day spent exploring the Colorado mountains, exchanging private vows, and celebrating with their four parents (and dogs!) back in Breckenridge.
Getting Ready in Breckenridge Before Their Mountain Elopement
Becca and Patrick began their wedding day getting ready in Breckenridge, Colorado, before making the drive up to Loveland Pass.
Rather than planning a traditional wedding with a packed timeline, they chose to spend their day focusing on the experiences that mattered to them: an adventure in the mountains, an intimate ceremony with just the two of them, and a relaxed evening with family.
With everything ready, we headed toward Loveland Pass for the next part of their day.

A Private Hiking Elopement Ceremony at Loveland Pass
Located along the Continental Divide, Loveland Pass is one of Colorado’s most incredible locations for couples who want mountain scenery without committing to an all-day hike. Becca and Patrick wanted somewhere a little more secluded for their ceremony, so we set out on a moderate hike away from the busier areas of the pass.
The weather had other plans for a moment, bringing a little summer rain before clearing up and giving us the opportunity to continue exploring. Once we reached their ceremony location, Becca and Patrick exchanged letters, read their personal vows, exchanged rings, and incorporated a handfasting ceremony into their commitment to one another.
No audience, no distractions, and no pressure to perform for anyone else. Just the two of them, surrounded by the mountains, getting married exactly how they wanted.

Adventure Elopement Portraits on Digital & 35mm Film
After their ceremony, we spent time exploring the surrounding landscape and creating portraits throughout Loveland Pass. Between the dramatic mountain backdrops, open alpine terrain, and changing summer weather, there was no shortage of beautiful scenery.
Their day was documented on both digital and 35mm film, blending the flexibility of digital photography with the texture and nostalgic character of film. A combination that felt especially fitting for a wedding day centered around the experience rather than tradition.

An Intimate Private Chef Dinner in Breckenridge
After their adventure at Loveland Pass, Becca and Patrick made their way back to their Airbnb in Breckenridge, where their four parents and dogs were waiting to celebrate. Instead of a traditional wedding reception, they arranged for a private chef to prepare dinner so they could spend the rest of the evening together.
Their ceremony was intentionally just for the two of them, but they still made space to celebrate with their closest family afterward. It’s one of my favorite things about elopements: there’s no single way they have to look. You can spend the afternoon exchanging vows on a mountain and still come home to a beautiful dinner with your family.
