An Intimate Summer Elopement in Collbran, Colorado

September 6, 2026

A lakeside first look, private vows surrounded by the Colorado landscape, a ceremony on family land, and an outdoor dinner with just their closest people. Kenna and Moe’s Collbran, Colorado elopement was proof that a wedding doesn’t need a big guest list or an elaborate timeline to feel incredibly special. With only two guests, beautiful summer weather, and a celebration filled with personal touches, their wedding day was entirely their own. From their first look at Vega Lake to a champagne tower and homemade dinner at the family cabin, every part of their day reflected how they wanted to celebrate. Their elopement was documented on both digital and 35mm film.

Getting Ready & A Private First Look at Vega Lake

Kenna and Moe began their wedding day getting ready at an Airbnb before heading to Vega Lake for their first look. Surrounded by the scenery of Western Colorado, they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day and exchanged private vows by the water. Rather than sharing every moment in front of their guests, they chose to keep this part of the day just for themselves. Vega Lake provided a beautiful backdrop for their first look and portraits, with gorgeous summer weather making the experience even better.

An Intimate Elopement Ceremony on Private Family Land

After their time at Vega Lake, Kenna and Moe made their way to private family property in Collbran for their ceremony. With only Kenna and Moe’s mom and best friend in attendance, the ceremony was about as intimate as it gets. Their mom officiated, adding another personal element to an already meaningful day. Getting married on family land gave them the opportunity to celebrate somewhere with a personal connection, without the expectations of a traditional wedding venue. No huge wedding party, no crowded ceremony, and no unnecessary traditions. Just two people getting married, surrounded by the people they wanted there.

A Private Cabin Reception with Homemade Dinner & Champagne

Following their ceremony, the celebration continued at a cabin on the family’s private property. Tables were set up outdoors for an intimate dinner, prepared by their mom. Instead of a traditional catered wedding reception, they shared a homemade meal with their two guests. And even with such a small celebration, they didn’t skip the fun details. A champagne tower, macarons, and tiramisu made their way into the evening, bringing a little extra celebration to their laid-back wedding day. It’s one of my favorite things about intimate elopements: you can have a wedding with only two guests and still include the details and traditions that matter to you.

Documenting Their Western Colorado Elopement on Digital & 35mm Film

From their private vows at Vega Lake to the ceremony on family land and dinner at the cabin, Kenna and Moe’s wedding day was documented on a combination of digital photography and 35mm film. The two mediums work together to preserve both the bigger moments and the smaller details, from the landscapes surrounding their first look to the candid interactions throughout their celebration. Their gallery is a reminder that some of the most meaningful wedding photographs come from simply allowing the day to unfold naturally.
