Erica + Sonny’s Wild & Romantic Grand Teton Elopement
Some love stories just feel meant to be, and Erica + Sonny’s Grand Teton National Park elopement was one of them. After discovering my work on a viral TikTok and realizing the Tetons were on my bucket list, they reached out knowing this was the place where their story needed to be told. They’d been visiting the park together since COVID, falling in love with its wild beauty, and now it would become the backdrop for their wedding day. I have a blog all about How to Elope at Grand Teton National Park full of planning assistance, location guides, permit info, and tips for others who are planning to elope in the park!
We started at noon at Colter Bay, where the sun was soft, the mountains rose in the distance, and emotions ran high. Their first look had all of us in tears, a quiet, beautiful moment before the day’s adventure began. From there, we headed to Mountain View Overlook for dreamy couples portraits, the Tetons standing tall behind them, before meeting their family at the GTNP sign for group photos to mark the occasion.

After a quick break for the couple to grab dinner at the iconic Mangy Moose in Teton Village, we reconvened at Mormon Row for pre-ceremony portraits. And that’s when the weather decided to give us the most dramatic twist: the sky cracked open into a storm, bringing hail and heavy rain that cleared out all of the crowds. Instead of running for cover, Erica + Sonny danced in the rain, laughed through the downpour, and embraced every drop. Then, as if on cue, a stunning rainbow stretched across the sky when the storm passed.

We decided to move on Glacier View Overlook for more portraits before arriving at Schwabacher Landing for their permitted sunset ceremony (where, yes, the groom ripped his pants but kept smiling through every photo). At the end of the Schwabacher Landing trail, with the Tetons glowing behind them, they exchanged vows as the sun dipped low. The golden hour glow during their ceremony was unlike anything I have ever seen, the light was truly ethereal!

But the day wasn’t done yet. As blue hour settled in, we took more portraits bathed in the soft evening light before ending the night at Million Dollar Cowboy Bar with flash photos that captured all the energy, grit, and romance of the day.

Erica + Sonny’s Grand Teton elopement had it all: emotion, adventure, chaos, beauty, and pure, unfiltered love. The storm, the rainbow, the mountains, it all came together to tell a story as wild and beautiful as the park itself. I’m already dying to go back to this gorgeous state for another elopement.
